Shikalgar Sahakari Patpedhi Ltd.

In the year 1967 a Bank was established in Dadar, Mumbai and Shri Abdul Ajij Abdul Karim Shikalgar was included in the executive Board of that Bank. He tried his level best to include more Shikalgars as members in the Bank, but his efforts did not succeed. Due to less members their views, and opinions were not considered so they thought of establishing a Bank for the welfare of Shikalgar society at large. Shri Abdul Ajij Abdul Karim Shikalgar (Lalbaugh - Vita), Shri Jamal Dadumiya Shikalgar [Do tanki-Vita], Shri Haji Nizambhai Ibrahim Shikalgar (Do tanki-Vita), Shri Rasulbhai Abbas Shikalgar [Grant Road- Bhalavni], Shri Haji Ahmadbhai Meerabhai Shikalgar [Dongri-Vita], Shri Mubarak Chand Shikalgar & Shri Papa Alisahab Shikalgar [Mulund Kurla] they all come together and started Collecting Rs. 10/- as a contribution. Now their main aim was to increase Shikalgar members.

When the membership, increased to about 125 members in 1977 Shikalgar Sahakari Patpedhi Maryadit [ Registration NO: BOM| RSR |841 | 1977] was established in Do Tanki on 11.8.1977 with great pomp and show. The Patpedhi was established and started functioning very well. As years passed by due to lack of proper information about the changing banking scenario, inadequate staff and lack of proper time management the Patpedhis working started to collapse. In 1998 Late Shri Haji Maulabhai Hasan Shikalgar [ Kurla and Kachrewadi ] took over the reins of Shikalgar Sahakari Patpedhi. He was a good selfless man who wanted only betterment of Shikalgar Community. He had a flourishing business in Kurla and he was well acknowledged in Kurla by one and all, Initially, he contributed by running the Patpedhi in his own premises. And took very nominal rent for the rented premises. He bore financial loss but due to his efforts, got recognition in Kurla Shikalgar. His tenure was from 1998 to 2003. Sahakari Patpedhi's name became popular in Kurla. During this period, Shri Javed Burhan Shikalgar was in-charge of Patpedhi. Advocate Javed Burhan Shikalgar now resides in Kharghar and has his own firm. Javed's contribution was note worthy in Patpedhi. He was a good speaker and by his positive vibes tried his best to run the Patpedhi.

Shri Amin Bhai Ibrahim Shikalgar (Do Tanki) took over the Reins of the Patpedhi from 2003 to 2008. He was the Chairman and Late Maulabhai Hasan Shikalgar was the Vice Chairman. Late Shri Haji Ibrahim Jangu Shikalgar was the Treasurer. These Board members thought of taking risk and purchasing a land in a slum area but unfortunately, the area was not suitable for the Banking operation and they had to drop that Idea. In 2008 New members were elected on the Board of Directors. Senior Members felt new generation should come forward and with everyone's approval Shri Naushad Yakub Shikalgar [Goregaon] was elected for the post of Chairman.

Shri Naushad Yakub Shikalgar a young educated lad then had the urge to achieve set goal, take Risks for the society, He had a dream, a vision for the Society. He was selfless and honest to the core. His only aim was to prove his ability which his elders had entrusted to him.

With this objective in mind, he formed Shikalgar Sahkari Patpedhi team on the same lines of Shikalgar Jamat Trust. He formed a team of members who were honest, selfless and wanted to help our society. They kept their office work / personal life away and strived whole heartedly to achieve the Set parameters. It is noteworthy to mention here that under the able guidance of, Shri Naushad Shikalgar the Patpedhi slowly, gradually started flourishing. Efforts materialized into reality, their dreams were fulfilled. The Patpedhi Started functioning in a systematic manner. The Patpedhi has progressed a lot without taking any type of loan from any other Financial Institution. It has expanded on its own. Today Shikalgar Sahkari Patpedhi has 2 branches in Govandi and Goregaon. The staff have Increased & there is a dedicated team. Thus the Patpedhi has been Instrumental in providing employment. It is due to Shikalgar Sahkari Patpedhi Many Small & large businessmen have been able to expand their business. Many have taken their dream house in Mumbai as well as in Suburbs, Traders, Merchants have also availed Loans & flourished. Many parents have successfully got their Wards married with pomp and Jeal, due to the timely support extended by the Patpedhi.

Also, Patpedhi has helped Medically unfit People to Regain their Life Line. Shikalgar Sahkari Patpedhi is the Backbone of the Shikalgar Community, it is financially capable and strong. It has taken an Eagle's leap in this competitive Market and also proven its might, under the leadership of Shri Naushad Yakub Shikalgar, under able guidance the Patpedhi could purchase a new office which Resides in Chembur i.e., B' 12. Kasturba Nagar. Co-operative Housing Society, 2nd floor Thakkar Bappa Colony. Chembur Mumbai-71, At present we have shifted our premises temporarily as construction work is going on.
